Carolyn Merriman Shore Up Your Programs and Look for Opportunity
Letter from Carolyn Merriman, President

How are your organization and programs holding up? It’s a tough time to be in this business, but we believe this climate offers a lot of opportunity, too.

In this issue, we’ve identified ways to shore up your current strategy and options you may not have considered until now. Are you making the most of the relationships you have inside your organization? These people are the backbone of your programs and, with the right strategy, can be your best sales and service team.

We also examine the role of Marketing in a health care organization. To some, this function is too often labeled the “ad department”—but for those who get it, it’s an invaluable voice and resource for your organization. We’ll give you some tips to take your message to the masses and work as a team with other departments, too.

Take some time to read about one of the newest trends in physician strategies: concierge medicine. This concept, still new to some, stems from a need by some physicians to deliver patient care on their own terms. We’ll also discuss the legal considerations when entering into a business relationship with physicians and/or referring hospitals.

The good news is that there are ways to build and retain business in this economic climate. It takes smart planning, dedication to follow-through and a willingness to try new things. I encourage you to call us with any questions as you grow your programs, and to share your success stories.
